Running Groups

Below is a partial list of running groups around Tucson; a list of clubs, groups, and teams throughout Arizona is also available. Before setting out to run with one of these groups for the first time, it is a good idea to contact the group organizer beforehand. Times and places tend to change.

Do you run regularly with a small group of people and want to add more? Of course you do! Email the necessary group info and it will be posted!

Workout Group
The Workout Group: dedicated to providing education and opportunity to help you achieve your running goals. Coordinated by Randy Accetta, the Workout Group is the total training solution for over 75 runners and walkers. WOG, as it has come to be known, will help you develop a personalized running program designed to help you achieve your fitness goals. Whether you’re preparing for your first marathon, training for local road races, or simply getting in better shape, the Workout Group features three weekly workouts (Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Saturday mornings) open to all ages and abilities. Track workouts take place at Reid Park on a well-lit, half-mile dirt track. This coached group costs a few bucks a month.
The Grinders
Based in the Continental Ranch/Continental Reserve area of NW Tucson, The Grinders is an informal, free, training group. The Grinders meet for organized workouts on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings. There is also a Sunday "long" run starting from "It's A Grind" coffee house at the Arizona Pavilions on Cortaro Road. Former Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier Michele Hill and former World Masters Champion and 2:16 marathoner Dave Hill coordinate targeted workouts for specific goals. Contact Michele or Dave at tiffhill@msn.com, or check out their website for more information.
Blue Pants Racing
The goal of Blue Pants Racing is to promote the sport of running and improve leg speed through cycling, swimming and weight training. The plan is to create an active, healthy group of fitness enthusiasts and to offer a welcoming and non-intimidating setting for all ages and abilities.
They feature running, swimming, cycling, hiking, trail running, and a kids’ club. They also offer personal training designed for runners and endurance athletes. The team trains for most of the local races and two major marathons every year, as well as volunteering in the community and raising funds for local agencies.
