Road Options
|
Sabino Canyon's 3.7 mile (7.4 mile round-trip) road is one of Tucson's most popular out and back running routes offering unmatched beauty and a challenging 0.7 mile climb. Cars are prohibited and bicycle access is restricted to early mornings and late evenings and prohibited on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The only vehicles you will encounter are the trams that leave the Visitor's Center every 30 minutes 8A-4:30P. You will find bathrooms along the way, including one at the end (mile 3.7) of the road. The last chance for water is the water spigot at mile 1.6, about 150 meters before the first bridge.

Trail Options
|
There are a few incredible trail runs at Sabino Canyon. The finest, and most popular, is the Phoneline Trail. Follow the dirt trail on the east side of the parking lot. When you reach the paved road, follow it to the right. The Phone Line Trail head is immediately across the double bridge. The first few miles are a climb. The trail winds along the base of the canyon's south walls. Breathtaking views (pun intended) and frequent wildlife. About mile 5, the trail splits. The right fork takes you further up the canyon (all the way to Mt. Lemmon.) The left fork drops you to the end of the road (see Road Options above.) You will find a bathroom at the end of the road.
For other trail options, check for trail maps at the Visitor's Center.
