SAR Good Neighbor Race - Feeling Fit 5K - Race Report

Diane Manzini January 27, 2012

On January 14, 2012, a beautiful Saturday morning in Sahuarita, the fifth annual Feeling Fit 5K took place.  108 people completed the 5K and 30 completed the family 1 mile.  Our youngest 5K finishers were 3 year old sister and brother team, Lillian and Daniel Gugler.  They completed the race (on their own) at 48:02 and 43:23, respectively.  Honorable mention goes out to our oldest 5K competitor, 79 year old Delwin Kruschke, who completed his 5K at 51:55.  Way to go!  Congratulations to Dawn Bunnow, the first female finisher, with a time of 22:35 and Hirofumi Yamakawa, the first male finisher, with a time of 21:01.  Many SAR’s members came out to support the race which benefits the Sahuarita charter school, Great Expectations Academy.  Participants enjoyed plenty of free Subway subs, Sertino’s coffee, a jumper for the kids and musical entertainment.  Warm up before the race was led by Marissa Moors of Trinity Personal Training.  Prizes were also raffled off to participants and included gift certificates from Tri Sports, El Charro restaurant, Octopus Carwash, movie tickets to a local movie theater and many other items from local vendors.  Special thanks go out to Desert Diamond Casino and Freeport McMorran, who were the Gold sponsors.  Look for the 6th annual Feeling Fit 5K coming in January 2013!  For full results and pictures visit
