TMC Saguaro National Park Labor Day Run

Randy Accetta September 4, 2012

Thank you to everyone who came out for the 43rd TMC Saguaro National Park Labor Day Run.  There were 1,120 official finishers, more than in any of the prior 42 years of this Tucson tradition—and almost exactly double the number of finishers five short years ago.  A few items:
1) SAR is using a new IPICO electronic timing system—this is a very fast, industry-lead type of system (used at the London Marathon and many other world-class events throughout the globe).  We’re still learning our way, so if you have any changes to the official results, please email SAR’s official timer, .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address), and he will get it taken care of to the best of his abilities.
2) Gabe Zimmerman Triple Crown registrants: if you did not pick up your Saguaro medallion, you can pick it up at race sponsor, The Running Shop (3055 North Campbell).  Remember, finishers for both the TMC Meet Me Downtown Night Run and the TMC Saguaro race are eligible for the special three-part Triple Crown medallion that will be provided at the end of the TMC Get Moving Tucson Half-Marathon and 5k on October 21st.
3)  Saguaro Age Group Awards can be picked up at The Running Shop (3055 North Campbell).  Awards to first place in 10-year increments in the 5k and places 1-3 in 5-year increments in the 8-miler.  See the race results here.
4) Age-Group Records: According to Dave Hill, the following results look to be Arizona state age-group records.  From young to old, a pretty good day for speedy running:
Leonard Moore M77
Hanna Henson F22
Amy Cole F28
Tia Accetta F37
Paula Morrison F39
Polly Campbell F44
Antoinette Smith F46
Tejal Parikh F48
Janet Holland F53
Merry Dearmon F57

5) Volunteers are what make SAR races special.  Over 100 people volunteered their time to help ensure a safe and successful race.  A partial list includes the following:
The folks who helped ensure that the two rattlesnakes out on the course did not get stepped on, either at the 6-mile mark or at the finish turn . . . (if we missed you, let us know!!)
