Also…Calling all nature and astronomy enthusiasts! At the Tucson 5000 race, the Steward Graduate Student Council (astronomy graduate students from UA) will be handing out information about the upcoming solar eclipse (May 20th) transit of Venus (June 5th). The next pair of transits of Venus occur December 11, 2117, and December 8, 2125…so for everyone alive right now, this is our last chance to see Venus pass between us and the Sun! The students will also be selling solar observing glasses (which will allow you to observe the transit of Venus, as well as future solar eclipses, safely) as a fundraiser for the council.
You can still sign up online!
