The first-ever BE TUCSON Women’s 5k Run and Walk and Men’s Mile is right around the corner, on Sunday, March 4th. To ensure a successful inaugural event for the Southern Arizona Roadrunners, we’ve decided to limit the field to only 400 runners in order to provide a top-notch experience.

Registration:
Online through midnight Thursday, March 1
Saturday 10:00-2:00 at The Running Shop (3055 North Campbell)
Sunday 6:30-7:30 am at La Encantada (Skyline and Campbell)—see race map for location details

And men, we’re not forgetting you: this is your chance to strut your stuff in front of the ladies, with a Men’s Mile at 7:45—one screaming loop around La Encantada, with prizes and eternal fame on the line!!
The Women’s Race starts at 8:00 am, with a 5k course that does three loops around the property—plenty of straightaways and downhill to make for fast times, with enough inclines to keep you on your toes! See the course map here.

Race Distances and Courses
The race will be 5k, 3.1 miles and will be three laps of the scenic La Encantada property. Check out the web map on MapMy Run.
Location
La Encantada at the northwest corner of Skyline Drive and Campbell Avenue, where, as they say, “Old-World Charm Meets Modern Luxury Retail in the Sonoran Desert.” If you want to map it, the address is 2905 E. Skyline Drive, Tucson, 85718.

Beneficiaries
A portion of our proceeds will be allocated to both the Arizona Cancer Center’s Better Than Ever fundraising program and the Southern Arizona Susan G. Komen Foundation to support local programs.
Community Partners
This event will help us kick off the new free weekly walk/run titled “Meet Me at La Encantada.” In addition to Monday’s Meet Me at Maynard’s, Jannie Cox and the Meet Me gang are bringing the fun to an exciting new location in the foothills. Now you can meet your friends for a 3.1 mile walk or run through the neighborhoods surrounding La Encantada with great Tucson views. Meet Me at La Encantada starts on March 7th, 2012. Sign in begins at 5:15pm at the lower courtyard, by Armitage.
Race Weather
The weather looks to be good this year, with a high of 82 on Sunday. Historically, the low is 41 and the high is in the low-70’s, with sunshine.
