The 36th annual edition of Tucson’s largest and most scenic 10K and 5K winds its way through Starr Pass in the foothills of the Tucson Mountains. Run or walk the gorgeous course with beautiful mountain scenery and great views of the Tucson basin.  Afterwards, join us for a Cinco de Mayo Celebration featuring the Cholla High School mariachi band.

NEW THIS YEAR -  One Mile FitKidz Race!  Free 1 Mile race for kids under 12.

ALSO...Calling all teams!  Team competition now open to the 5k and 10k!  You can now run either the 10K or 5K and be on the same team!  The team with the most participants will be awarded with a keg of craft beer from one of Tucson's local breweries!  Details:  Teams must be comprised of 5 or more people.   Must be 21 years of age or older to win the keg.  If you are already registered but want to join a team, do so by  logging in to your active.com account.  In the top, right hand corner where it says your name, click on your name and choose "my events" from the drop down list.  It will then let you pick if you want to "join a team," or "change event categories." 
 

All participants receive a cool event shirt, Post-Race Breakfast featuring hot Breakfast Burritos from El Saguarito Mexican Food, Fruit, Cookies, Starbucks Coffee, Eegees and more.

Kids will enjoy a One Mile FitKidz race and a shorter, sobrero run for kids of all ages. Plus there will be a Jumping Castle and Water Balloon Toss.

This race is part of The Running Shop Grand Prix, produced by SAR.

Race Awards

Individual awards will be given to the following in both the 10K and 5K:

►Top 3 Overall Finishers (Male and Female)
►Top 1 Masters Finisher (Male and Female)
►Top 3 in each 5-Year Age Group (Male and Female)
►The following Age Groups will be awarded 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+

Wear your oldest “Cinco” tee shirt to the event. The participant who sports the earliest version will receive a cash prize. (Previous winners not eligible.)

Beneficiaries

Proceeds from the event will go towards the following:

►Scholarship for Cholla High School Graduate Pursuing Higher Education as well as Cholla High School Mariachi and Softball programs

►Donation to the Arizona Cancer Center (in recognition for Better Than Ever participating in the event)

Race Distances and Courses

USAT&F Certified 10K (AZ-95003-FC) and 5K (AZ15017JOE)

The paved, USATF Certified 10K out and back road course features rolling hills winding through the Starr Pass Resort in the foothills of the Tucson Mountains. The course ends with a 2-mile downhill before finishing in front of Cholla High School. There are 2 water stations.

The paved, USATF Certified 5K is a loop course with rolling hills.  It starts at the intersection of Starr Pass Blvd and Cholla Blvd. and winds its way through the Tucson Park West III neighborhood.  The course finishes with a 1-mile downhill.  There is 1 water station along the course.

Baby strollers are welcome on the course.  We ask that strollers position themselves at the back of the start and use caution not to block or impede other participants on the course.

Dogs are not permitted on the course.
