Description
Get an early start on Valentine’s Day with this long-standing fun race staged at Old Main and the University of Arizona. The race benediciary this year will be Ben’s Bells Project. Race day registration and packet pick-up available on race morning, Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Geronimo Plaza, 814 E University Blvd, just east of Euclid, from 6:30-7:30 am. There will also be registration and number pick-up the day before on Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 11:00 till 2:00 at The Running Shop, 3055 N Campbell Ave.
NEW THIS YEAR:
A new crew of SAR race directors will be directing the race in 2013. This is good for you, because they’re bringing some fresh ideas and cool concepts to the Couple’s Relay. Special thanks to Diane Manzini, Dari Duval, and Alyssa Hoyt, three new SAR Board members for taking over from Randy. It’ll be a blast this year!
A 4 mile Couple’s Relay, in which two team members each run approximately 2 miles and the baton will be a flower donated by Ingils Florists. Each team member will run up one set of football stadium ramps! See Couple’s categories below. NOTE: you do not have to be romantic couples to be in the couple’s relay, but to receive any awards you do need to demonstrate a Public Display of Affection, otherwise known as PDA . . . Grand prize for the relay will be a gift certificate for a keg from Barrio Brewing Co! (If both team members are over 21 of course)
Special prizes for the best couple’s costume, so get creative! Also gifts for the longest married and newest newlywed teams.
To keep this race inexpensive there will be no t-shirt with registration – just plain old-school fun. However, bring cash since t-shirts with our new logo will be available for purchase on race day. They will be screen printed on site, so your pick of color/size. $15 for cotton tees, $20 for tech tees.
A 4 mile (approximate) individual Ramp Run race The individual race will be two loops, which means two sets of football stadium ramps!
A 2 mile non-competitive walk/jog The 2 mile walk/jog is designed to promote daily exercise, so bring the whole family along! Strollers are welcome!
Free Children’s Race after the main races
Post Race Festivities: Awards, raffle, breakfast sponsored by Arizona Roofing Solutions, coffee donated by Coffee Times Drive Thru, costume judging, Ben’s Bells project booth, massages and more! Plus bring cash to buy a t-shirt with our new logo! They will be made-to-order on site.

Race Distances and Courses
The course will be a 2 mile loop starting at Centennial Hall. It will take you along the UofA mall, past McKale Center, up & down a full set of football stadium ramps. After the big “hill” you’ll run below the stadium and take Cherry Ave back to the UofA mall. Then you’ll head towards Old Main & the exchange point where your lover (or friend) awaits.
The 4 mile Couple’s Relay is designed so that each runner has a running partner. The first runner (male or female) will carry a flower baton donated by Ingils Florists and will pass it to the second runner at the completion of the first 2 mile loop, along with a kiss or public display of affection of some sort. The second runner (male or female) will race the final 2 mile loop. Distances are not certified.
The 4 Mile Open race is an open event with men’s and women’s categories. Participants will do two loops of the course, which means two sets of ramps! Top finishers overall and top three in 10-year age categories will receive playful awards..
The 2 mile walk/jog is non-competitive, and all participants will be eligible for raffle prizes.
Location
University Avenue, at the Main Gate at the University of Arizona, between Euclid and Tyndall. Parking in nearby garages and on nearby streets.

*Children under 10 are free with adult entry

- Print Registration Form and mail it in. Registration by mail must be postmarked by Sunday, February 3, 2013.
- Register online with a credit card at active.com.
- There will be registration and number pick-up the day before on Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 11:00 till 2:00 at The Running Shop. Cash and checks only.
- Race day registration and packet pick-up is available on race morning, Sunday, February 10, 213 at Geronimo Plaza, 814 E University Blvd, just east of Euclid, from 6:30-7:30 am. Please note that only cash or checks are accepted for payment.

The 4 Mile Open race is an open event with men’s and women’s categories. Top finishers overall and top three in 10-year age categories will receive awards sponsored by The Running Shop, Main Gate merchants and other local businesses.

Beneficiaries
This year’s race will benefit Ben’s Bells Project. Their mission is to inspire, educate and motivate each other to realize the impact of intentional kindness and to empower individuals to act according to that awareness, thereby strengthening our selves, our relationships and our communities. After the race, stop by the Ben’s Bells booth to sign a kindness contract and put your artistic touch on a small project.
