Fine Valentine Couple’s Relay
Sunday, February 12, 2012 / 4m & 2m
Description
The Valentine’s Day Race returns to its traditional Sunday morning time slot—with its traditional feel-good, have-fun, and low-cost theme. Race day registration and packet pick-up available on race morning, Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Geronimo Plaza, 814 E University Blvd, just east of Euclid, from 6:30-7:30 am.
Please note that due to the newly begun construction on Arizona Stadium the course will be modified: instead of running the Arizona Stadium ramps, we will now return to the original course and run the outside of McKale Center—thus, the ups and downs will be much easier!!
A 4 mile Couple’s Relay, in which two team members each run approximately 2 miles. See Couple’s categories below. NOTE: you do not have to be romantic couples to be in the couple’s relay, but to receive any awards you do need to demonstrate a Public Display of Affection, otherwise known as PDA . . .
A 4 mile individual Ramp Run race
A 2 mile non-competitive walk/jog The 2 mile walk/jog is designed to promote daily exercise, so bring the whole family along! Strollers are welcome!

Race Distances and Courses
The 4 mile Couple’s Relay is designed so that each runner has a running partner. The first runner (male or female) will carry a relay object (probably a flower) and will pass it to the second runner at the completion of the first 2 mile leg, along with a kiss or public display of affection of some sort. The second runner (male or female) will race the final 2 mile leg, handing the relay object to the timers at the finish line.
The 4 Mile Open race is an open event with men’s and women’s categories. Top finishers overall and top three in 10-year age categories will receive playful awards courtesy of the Main Gate Merchants.
The 2 mile walk/jog is non-competitive, and all participants will be eligible for raffle prizes.
The course starts at Main Gate and heads along the UA mall to Arizona Stadium—each leg will include one up-and-down of the football stadium ramps.
